In Yin yoga we mainly target the deeper layers in our lower body - the connective tissues in the pelvis, hips, inner legs and lower spine. Most of the poses are done on the floor and are held for a longer time ( 3 to 5 min) and so that there is a gentle stretching of the connective tissues, the ligament, the joints and the bones. Yin Yoga has it's roots in Traditional Chinese Medicine and works on the Meridians. Because of it's slow pace Yin yoga is meditative, as it gives us time to reflect on our body and mind. The practice of Yin Yoga can help us to improve flexibility, develop breath awareness, de-stress, sleep better, enhance our mental focus and to be emotional balanced.
